Going home to Qadian from Delhi Airport? Qadian, near Batala, is the birthplace of the Ahmadiyya Muslim movement and hosts its large annual Jalsa every December. The drive covers roughly 445 km and normally takes 8–9.5 hours, depending on traffic and how many breaks you take.
For airport pickups the driver waits outside the arrivals exit with a name placard. Share your flight number so we can follow delays, and call the driver once you have collected your bags. Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) has three terminals: T3 handles all international flights and many domestic ones, while T1 and T2 handle domestic flights — your ticket shows which terminal to go to. Pickups are available at Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 departures and arrivals, Aerocity hotels and Mahipalpur.
From the airport the cab heads out via Mahipalpur and takes the Urban Extension Road (UER-II) or the Outer Ring Road north to join NH44 near Alipur and the Singhu border. The drive then runs via Panipat, Karnal, Ambala, Rajpura, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Beas, Mehta Chowk and Batala to Qadian.
Drops are available across Qadian — for example Qadian town, the railway station, the bus stand and nearby villages.
The first popular stop is Murthal, less than an hour from Delhi; Karnal's highway restaurants are the next good place for a meal. Further on, Ludhiana and Jalandhar are convenient for tea and washrooms. Tell the driver whenever you want a break.
After a long international flight with big suitcases, the Innova Crysta or Ertiga is the comfortable choice — a sedan boot fits only two large bags. For night departures, the highway is quieter and the drive is often faster than in the daytime.
If you are travelling from a nearby town instead, we cover Batala (~20 km), Sri Hargobindpur (~20 km), Mehta Chowk (~30 km), Gurdaspur (~30 km) and Begowal (~35 km). Distances are approximate road distances.
On a drive of around 445 km, legroom and boot space make a real difference. The Etios / Dzire suits up to four people with two suitcases; for families or airport luggage the Ertiga, Kia Carens or Innova Crysta is the more comfortable pick.
