Planning a trip from Delhi Airport to Majitha? Majitha is a historic town about 20 km north-east of Amritsar, known as the home of the Majithia sardars of the Sikh Empire. The drive covers roughly 460 km and normally takes 8–9.5 hours, depending on traffic and how many breaks you take.
For airport pickups the driver waits outside the arrivals exit with a name placard. Share your flight number so we can follow delays, and call the driver once you have collected your bags. Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) has three terminals: T3 handles all international flights and many domestic ones, while T1 and T2 handle domestic flights — your ticket shows which terminal to go to. Pickups are available at Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 departures and arrivals, Aerocity hotels and Mahipalpur.
From the airport the cab heads out via Mahipalpur and takes the Urban Extension Road (UER-II) or the Outer Ring Road north to join NH44 near Alipur and the Singhu border. From there the cab continues via Panipat, Karnal, Ambala, Rajpura, Khanna, Ludhiana, Phagwara, Jalandhar, Kartarpur, Beas, Jandiala Guru and Amritsar to Majitha. From Majitha the cab first heads to Amritsar and then follows the same highway route. It is a long but easy drive almost entirely on NH44, crossing the Beas river bridge and passing Jalandhar and Ludhiana on bypasses.
The driver drops you at your door anywhere in Majitha, including Majitha town, the main chowk, the bus stand and the villages on the Amritsar–Majitha–Batala side.
Murthal's famous parantha dhabas come up within the first hour out of Delhi, and the Karnal highway food courts are good for a longer break. Further on, Ludhiana and Jalandhar are convenient for tea and washrooms. Tell the driver whenever you want a break.
After a long international flight with big suitcases, the Innova Crysta or Ertiga is the comfortable choice — a sedan boot fits only two large bags. Late-night arrivals are common on this route — our drivers are used to night driving and the fare stays the same.
Kumar Cabs also picks up and drops in the towns around Majitha — Fatehgarh Churian (~15 km), Amritsar (~20 km), Amritsar Airport (~20 km), Ajnala (~25 km) and Jandiala Guru (~30 km). Distances are approximate road distances.
For long routes like Delhi Airport to Majitha, many families choose the Innova Crysta or Hycross for the extra comfort over several hours; couples and solo travellers usually save with the Etios / Dzire.
